Post-result meetings at high level in Tehran, Iran

2015-05-29

These meetings were held on May 2015 to share the results of our collaborative study about maternal near miss and the quality of care in settings with high caesarean delivery.

The meetings were organized with maternal health experts at Ministry of Health, the head of National Association of Iranian Gynaecologists and Obstetricians, and the head of Infertility Reproductive Health Research Centre. Furthermore, a seminar was conducted to distribute the study results with care professionals in Tehran.  More than 100 Obstetricians and Gynaecologists attended the seminar. The pattern of severe maternal morbidity and the drawback the overuse of caesarean delivery has on maternal health was introduced. Awareness about the current situation of obstetric performance and quality of care was raised and maternal health challenges were discussed during and after the meetings.

Healthcare managers become interested to implement the WHO maternal near miss approach at hospitals to monitor the obstetric performance. Further meeting was planned for future collaborations.
