Education at The Department of Women’s and Children’s Health

The Department of Women’s and Children’s Health (WCH) provides graduate and postgraduate education for students of all levels and in all health-related professions.

Medical students spend one semester at WCH for studies in paediatrics, gynaecology and obstetrics. Nursing students are educated in paediatric and gynaecologic care. The Programme for Paediatric Specialist Nursing Care and the Midwifery Programme educates specialist paediatric nurses and midwives, with the additional possibility to obtain a Master’s degree. All these programmes include education at the clinic, independent research, lectures and seminars. Parts of the specialist nursing programme can be given as distance learning. At the Unit for International Maternal and Child Health (IMCH) master’s programmes in International Health and Humanitarian Assistance are given. In addition to these study programmes, a large number of independent courses are given, aimed at – among others – biomedical scientists, speech therapists, nurses, midwives, physicians, physiotherapists and students of global health.
